Lysena at a glance
What is Lysena?
An app that protects your phone from scams, dangerous links, suspicious apps and unsafe Wi‑Fi networks. It uses an AI model that runs right on your phone, so it can understand messages without sending them to anyone.
What does the name Lysena mean?
It stands for Local sYstem for SEcurity, Neural Assistant: a system that works locally, on your phone, for your security, with an assistant built on a neural network, that is an AI model. Scammers already use AI to attack; Lysena uses it to defend you. More on the About page.
How much does it cost?
Lysena is free during the beta and in the first release. If paid features come later, we will tell you in advance.
How do I join the beta?
Sign up on the Beta page with your email and the type of phone you have. When the closed test on Google Play starts, we send you an invitation with instructions to install the app; on iPhone the beta comes later. We only use your email for the beta and delete it when the beta ends, or sooner if you ask us.
Privacy and data
Are my messages sent to a server?
No. Messages, notifications and links are checked on your phone and stay there. We only ask the server for things that are not about you: the model, lists of dangerous websites and updates. Details are in the privacy policy.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. After the first model download, Lysena works offline: all checks happen on your phone. When you are connected it downloads updates to the lists of dangerous websites, the same for everyone. Cloud services, like the Family group, are only used if you turn them on, and you do not need them to be protected.
Do I need an account?
No. The app works without signing up. You only need an account if you want to use the Family group.
How do I delete my data?
Data on your phone can be deleted from Settings or by uninstalling the app. For your account, follow the instructions on the Delete your account page.
Phones
Which phones does it work on?
Roughly Android 12 or later. With 8 GB of RAM or more, Lysena uses its main model; with less RAM it uses a smaller model. The assistant needs at least 8 GB. We will measure the final requirements during the beta, on real phones.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, but after Android and with fewer features, because iOS does not let apps read notifications or the list of other apps. On iPhone, Lysena filters texts from unknown senders, checks the emails and messages you share, blocks dangerous websites in Safari and checks your phone’s settings.
How much space does it take?
The app itself is small. The AI model takes about 1–3 GB and downloads only once, usually over Wi‑Fi.
Does it drain the battery?
The model only runs when needed, for example on a message with a link or from an unknown sender. When the battery is low, heavier checks pause. During the beta we measure consumption over 24 hours of real use.
Alerts and actions
What if Lysena gets it wrong?
Alerts have a “Not dangerous” button. It helps us count false alarms and improve, without sending the content of the message.
Can Lysena make payments or read my passwords?
No. Lysena does not pay, send messages or delete data without your confirmation, and for the most sensitive actions it also asks for your fingerprint or face. Some actions are never allowed, such as forwarding verification codes or turning protection off.
Need help?
I got a suspicious message: what should I do?
Do not open the link, do not reply and do not call any number written in the message. If it claims to come from your bank, a courier or a public office, contact them yourself, through their official website or app. Never give out verification codes, PINs or passwords. If you have already entered your details or paid, call your bank right away. In Italy you can report the message to the Postal Police at commissariatodips.it. More tips on Security today.
How do I report a problem?
Write to us at the address below. From the app you can also prepare a package of technical information: before sending it you see exactly what it contains.
